At the end of the week, the forecast looked like almost zero wind for Sunday. Through the day on Saturday the forecast picked up a little, but not much. Lifting off from the airport we had very light winds out of the W to SW. As we climbed above the tree tops the wind came out of the N, and as we continued to climb and follow Rudi the winds came out of the NE to E to very slightly ESE and very quick. Dropped as we crossed the N end of Delaney Pond and curved back till we were headed ESE across the pond at low level, checking out the fish. Rudi was also floating over the pond and drifted W just a little south of us. The wind over the pond was L&V!. Popped up to try and get back to the W edge of the pond for another pass, but we moved too far S. Flew over the old DEC plant as we climbed to head S for Hudson and Cox School. Adjusted altitude to maintain a generally S heading, judging about where the school should be until we got close enough to actually see and setup for a landing. |
